Digital earth leakage relays designed for low voltage AC circuits

In order to ensure protection of personnel as well as equipment, it is necessary to ground the existing system so that leakage currents or fault currents would flow through ground without causing harm to the existing system.

At times this ground current may exceed limits and result into major faults or mishaps due to inappropriate grounding, to avoid this protection devices are installed in the system called protective relays. One such solution to this is earth leakage relays.

Its purpose is to measure earth leakage current of an electrical system or installation using a core balance current transformer CBCT, and interrupt the power supply as and when the leakage current surpasses a certain limit which is harmful for property or life.
