POWERGRID dedicates Pavagada-Devanahalli transmission line to nation

The dedicated transmission line will deliver power generated from renewable energy sources to the city of Bengaluru.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has dedicated its 400 kV Pavagada-Devanahalli transmission line to the nation as part of Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The 400 kV D/C (Quad) Pavagada-Devanhalli line, Phase-II (Part-B) transmission system for Ultra Mega Solar Power Park (UMSPP) at Tumkur (Pavagada) under Southern Region –II in Karnataka was dedicated to the nation on April 2, 2021. This line will enable the delivery of power to Bengaluru city from renewable energy sources at Pavagada UMSPP in Karnataka.
The 400 kV D/C Pavagada-Devanhalli line shall interconnect Bengaluru city and relieve loading on other transmission lines connected to load centres at Hoody, Neelmangla, Bidadi and Somanhalli. Therefore, the transmission line has enhanced the reliability of the power supply to the city.Recently, POWERGRID acquired Ramgarh New Transmission Limited, a project company established for the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for the evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan under Phase II – Part A. The acquisition came after POWERGRID was declared as a successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).
