Jhajjar Power Limited (JPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Apraava Energy, hosted a first-of-its-kind Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) conference. The event discussed and explored joint opportunities for innovation, knowledge-exchange, expertise-sharing, and value creation for India’s power sector. The conference was held at company’s premises and brought together major power producers and value chain partners.
The conference was inaugurated by Malcom Wrigley, Chief Operating Officer, Apraava Energy along with other dignitaries such as Naveen Munjal, Director- BD & Commercial, Apraava Energy; Somesh Bandyopadhyay, Chief Executive Officer, APCPL and Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, Senior Vice President – O&M, JPL.
FGD technology reduces sulfur dioxide emissions from the stack gases of refineries and power plants, thus reducing the adverse effects on natural ecosystems and human communities. JPL is currently the only thermal power plant in the Delhi-NCR region with FGD technology, having installed it as early as in 2012. With the help of its FGD unit, the plant has achieved the lowest auxiliary power consumption of 6.64 per cent, the lowest specific oil consumption of 0.23 ml/kWh, and 100 per cent ash utilisation.
Speaking at the event, Wrigley, said, “In today’s competitive market scenario, it is natural to expect a race for winning projects and market share. But, here, in this room, we are in a different kind of race – a race where India’s people and environment will be the ultimate winners. This event is a memorable and proud moment for JPL, and we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us in making it a success. We are a socially responsible organisation, and we are delighted to have brought the forerunners of the power industry together to chart the way towards a better and greener future.”
