“There is more demand for solar panels in the current day as people are becoming more conscious about their surroundings and the environment and are trying to be more sustainable, which in turn means a growth in business for us,” says Karishma, Business Development Manager, Birkan Engineering Industries Pvt Ltd.
How are the current energy trends impacting your business?
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the solar energy industry has been remarkably resilient. Rapid technology improvements, government incentives for solar panels, and the increasing competitiveness of solar energy storage batteries have helped boost clean energy deployment.
Although the demand for solar panels dipped last year, the solar market is gradually picking up. The reopening of businesses and industries is fuelling the solar industry. Solar manufacturers and installers are expected to see a steady surge in demand in the next few years. However, it may take a year before the demand returns to pre- COVID times.
The solar power trends that will influence the industry’s future are:
• Booming data centres
• Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Blockchain
• Solar automobiles
• Micro-Inverter Technology
The above trends in the solar industry are expected to turn the tide in favour of solar firms and manufacturers.
How do you ensure your products’ energy efficiency, dependability, and affordability?
Efficiency in solar panels is simply the measurement of energy output on a given surface area. The more efficient a panel is, the less space it will take up on your roof. The more efficient the photovoltaic solar panel, the more energy output it will have per light energy hitting the cell, which will take up less surface area to meet your energy requirements.
With some of the highest ratings in the industry, Birkan Solar offers superior performance and longevity compared to similar-sized panels. Our products are highly efficient, have a longevity of at least 25 years, and are affordable. Our products are not bulky, which results in less weight on the structures and can be installed in relatively small areas with much less effort and cost. If you install our solar systems, you’ll see a faster return on your investment with more energy output than similar products.
What will be your primary focus on market penetration in the coming years?
Our primary focus will be on the government sectors and remote rural areas in the coming years. Rural areas lack this basic electricity resource because the electric grids stop before reaching them because extending the electric grid costs a lot of money.
Much of rural India still lacks a regular electricity supply. As a result, dependency on conventional energy sources such as kerosene and coal is high in the rural region. Thus, the adoption of solar power in rural areas can not only reduce the use of fossil fuels but also result in the generation of clean and cheap energy. Further, many social and economic benefits are linked to solar installations in rural areas.
Can you brief us on your company’s key offerings for the energy sector?
The key offerings that our company provides in the energy sector are as follows:
• Service and installation of solar EPC in the private and government sectors. We are working on residential and commercial projects in the private sector. In the last few years, we have also started working more rapidly on government projects in different states.
• O&M (Operation and Maintenance) services all customers to keep solar system performance at par with the needed expectations and applicable regulations for commercial and industrial applications.
• We are also an OEM for solar products. An OEM is a manufacturer specialising in making specific products on behalf of brands. In the case of solar module companies, primary manufacturers outsource their solar panels’ production to OEMs. The manufacturer still brands the product as its own and, ideally, monitors the manufacturing process to ensure the OEM maintains the level of quality that customers expect from the brand.
Which products are you planning to launch in the coming years?
We are currently working on a project for floating solar farms. This is something where the current solar energy sector is heading. Floating solar systems, also known as FPV, are any solar power plant that floats on water. It can be adapted for ponds, lakes, reservoirs, etc. It has many advantages, such as no need for land, increased power generation, easy maintenance, etc.
Floating solar farms are cheaper to install and can produce more power than land-based solar panels due to the cooling effect of water. Besides all this, we are working on some of our solar products to meet numerous challenges we face while purchasing other installation parts, like inverters, batteries, etc., from third parties.
