According to the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI, 2023) produced by German Watch, the New Climate Institute, and Climate Action Network International, all based in Germany, India has risen two points to eighth place. Denmark, Sweden, Chile, and Morocco are the only four minor countries placed above India in the current CCPI report, released at COP 27 in November 2022, as 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th, respectively. No country received first, second, or third place. The first, second, and third ranks were not awarded to any country. Therefore, India’s position is the best among all large economies.
