Adani Power Ltd (APL), a subsidiary of the Adani Group, has received a B rating from CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) for climate change transparency in 2022. This is higher than the global and Asia regional C averages and the same as the B average for thermal power generation. This score recognises APL’s stewardship in setting competitive benchmarks and meeting commitments to mitigate the effects of climate change. In the thermal power generation sector, 12 percent of companies are in the disclosure band, 16 percent are in the awareness band, 48 percent are in management, and 24 percent are in leadership. When compared to the global average, APL performed well in the areas of governance, scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and risk management process, opportunity disclosure, and business strategy, financial planning, and scenario analysis.
APL was also given a B for water security. This is comparable to the Asia regional and global average of “B” for thermal power generation. APL excelled in business impacts, integrated approaches to environmental challenges, water-related opportunities, water policies, water accounting, targets and goals, governance, and business strategy. APL is one of 48 percent of companies that have attained the management level in climate change and 77 percent of companies that have attained the management level in water security.
