APAR Industries to launch ‘Telecom Solutions’ at ELECRAMA 2023
.

On the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, the government has set a new aim of becoming “energy independent” by 2047. “This objective is further supported by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA), which has a vision of making India one of the world’s greatest manufacturing centres,” says Shashi Amin, CEO-Cables Solutions, APAR Industries.
Significance of ELECRAMA for the wires and cables industry
ELECRAMA is the largest stand-alone showcase for the Indian Electrical and Allied Electronics Industry, organised by IEEMA. It combines the complete spectrum of solutions that power the planet from source to socket and everything in between. As a leader in the Power Transmission and Distribution segment, APAR Industries Ltd. will also participate in ELECRAMA 2023 wholeheartedly. Senior executives from our three key business segments, Cables, Conductors, and Specialty Oils, will be on hand at stall no. H14A2D1 (Hall 14), showcasing our future-ready products and services that live up to our motto and promise of “Tomorrow’s solutions today.”
How did the wires and cables business fare in 2022?
The Indian wire and cable industry has shown steady growth and is expected to grow by USD 1.65 billion, at a CAGR of almost 10 percent, during 2021–2025. This growth forecast is fueled by the government’s heavy investment in infrastructure, the expansion of the renewable sector, and the rate of adoption of electric vehicles.
Over the last ten years, our Cable Solutions business has been steadily growing at about 19 percent CAGR. In FY 22, exports contributed to 29 percent of our total revenue from the cable business. In the same year, our Light Duty Cables (LDC) business experienced rapid growth, and we are eager to expand our distribution network to ensure the timely availability of our best-in-class APAR Anushakti, which is powered by electron beam technology, heat resistant at 105 oC, melt-resistant, and has a life expectancy of 50 years.

The Indian wires and cables market makes up around 45 percent of the electrical industry. How did you see it performing in the green and smart cable segments?
India is the 3rd largest electricity producer worldwide, with a target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. Over the past decade, the demand for renewable energy alternatives within business practices has steadily increased. Consumers are beginning to care more about how products and services will affect the planet in the long term.

What investments are you planning to add to your R&D in 2023?
At the grand event of ELECRAMA 2023, we will officially launch our newest business vertical, “Telecom Solutions,” a business segment we will expand and invest in.
Research and Development is the bedrock of our organisation, driven by our mission “to design and manufacture building blocks for energy infrastructure, transportation, and telecommunication sectors that contribute meaningfully to making this world more energy efficient, environmentally sustainable, and a safer place.”
APAR is India’s largest manufacturer of electron beam cables, with three electron beam accelerators (1.5 MeV, 2.5 MeV, and 3 MeV). We have recently commissioned a 2.5 MeV e-beam line over and above the existing three e-beam facilities at our Khatalwada plant in Gujarat. Our cable factory is also commissioning two additional CCV lines.
At APAR as an organisation, we believe in continuous improvement, augmented with implementing Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma programmes across our cable facilities in Umbergaon and Khatalwada in Gujarat. We have been investing in new technologies and methods to make our operations more efficient, minimise waste, and improve our products and services.
As India’s number one and largest cable manufacturer for renewables and speciality cables, we have recently signed a JV to establish and develop wind and solar hybrid power generation facilities in Gujarat. This is another step towards building a net-zero future for India.
