The steady growth in Indian energy demand and consumption directly influences our per capita power consumption. Regarding per capita use, our power consumption will be between 1000 kW and 1250 kW hours per hour. Nonetheless, we need to catch up and are lower than the worldwide average. It will be the primary driver for the Indian economy, or the Indian power industry, to consume fuel since demand will come from various sources.
Furthermore, the continuing Atmanirbhar Nirbhar campaign is increasing demand for domestic enterprises, emphasising the importance of a large volume of electricity generation. Metros and the electrification of Indian railways would increase demand for large consumption units. As a result, the third industry that drives gas and other fossil fuels is expanding. So, these changes are vital if India is to reach a trillion-dollar GDP by 2025.
How can we reduce our energy dependence?
Reviving our energy consumption pattern would be a stepping stone towards attaining energy independence. To be energy self-sufficient, a nation must also become independent from imports. Thus, we import more than 75% of our oil and fossil fuel requirements; just 25 percent is produced in India. First, the demand or use must be reduced, and then 75 percent of the dependency must be abolished. Given how the economy is evolving and how other variables may raise demand, it is a remote possibility.
How can we improve our efficiency? When we talk about reducing our energy usage, we must understand what it takes to make it effective and efficient. We should look at possible solutions for having high-efficiency electrical equipment where I can save money by making them myself. Smart lighting, energy-efficient electrical systems, wires and connections, geysers, and other electrical accessories that contribute to a smart house are high-efficiency goods. Every electrical maker nowadays talks about energy-efficient equipment. Every industry you mentioned discusses reducing energy use to meet sustainability goals.
