NTPC Group’s renewable energy capacity expands to 3,364 MW with ambitious 60 GW target by 2032.
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC, achieved a significant milestone by declaring the commercial operation of its inaugural project, a 50 MW wind facility located in Dayapar, Kachch, Gujarat. This achievement has propelled the cumulative installed capacity of the NTPC Group to an impressive 73,874 MW, with their total renewable energy operational capacity now standing at 3,364 MW.
The Dayapar wind project holds a unique distinction as it is not only NTPC REL’s maiden venture but also the first capacity in India to be granted commercial status under the new Indian Electricity Grid Code and General Network Access Regime. This signifies a major step forward in adhering to the evolving regulatory framework in the country.
Additionally, NTPC REL has an array of 15 other renewable energy projects currently in various stages of execution, collectively contributing an additional capacity of 6,210 MW. Upon full commissioning, the Dayapar Wind Complex alone will supplement NTPC’s existing wind portfolio by a substantial 450 MW.Beyond their investments in solar and wind capacity, NTPC REL is venturing into the realm of green hydrogen technologies. Embracing the principles of green hydrogen storage and microgrid development, the company is undertaking the establishment of a substantial capacity in Ladakh.
