IREDA launches portal for enhanced transparency in CSR initiatives

IREDA’s new portal streamlines CSR requests, aligning with their commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), a Mini Ratna (Category – I) government of India enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has taken a significant step towards enhancing transparency in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. They have introduced a dedicated CSR portal that aims to streamline the process of receiving and processing CSR requests from various organisations and institutions. This portal, accessible round the clock, includes a CSR policy and proposal checklist to meticulously examine CSR requests. Furthermore, it will contribute to the efficient execution of IREDA’s social welfare initiatives as part of their CSR efforts, ensuring their accessibility to the public. Notably, this portal was developed by IREDA’s IT team, showcasing their dedication to embracing technology for improved governance.

The official launch of this CSR portal took place during the valedictory function of the “Vigilance Awareness Week 2023” held at IREDA’s registered office in Delhi. Dr. Praveen Kumari Singh, Additional Secretary at the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), had the honour of inaugurating the portal in the esteemed presence of  Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of IREDA,  Ajay Kumar Sahani, Chief Vigilance Officer, and other senior officials.

Dr. Praveen Kumari Singh, the Additional Secretary of CVC, delivered invaluable insights into the promotion of vigilance and integrity within organisations. She commended IREDA’s forward-thinking approach in 2021 when they launched the whistle blower portal, marking the company as the first Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) to provide such an online platform. Dr. Singh also emphasised IREDA’s pivotal role in advancing sustainable development goals, particularly in the fight against climate change.

IREDA’s CMD, Pradip Kumar Das, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to advancing renewable energy and corporate social responsibility while upholding the values of transparency and ethics. He underscored that the newly introduced CSR portal symbolises their steadfast dedication to these guiding principles. It promotes a paperless approach, underscoring IREDA’s unwavering determination to better serve communities and stakeholders.
