SJVN Green Energy secures 200 MW solar project in Gujarat

The renewable arm of SJVN wins the bid at ₹2.66/unit and anticipates 18-month operation with 11,698.16 million units generation.
SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), the renewable energy arm of SJVN, has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the execution of a 200 MW Solar Project in GUVNL Phase–XXIII. Earlier, SJVN Green Energy Limited secured the 200 MW Solar Project through tariff-based competitive bidding at a rate of ₹2.66 per unit on a Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis, following an electronic reverse auction conducted by GUVNL on March 2, 2024.
Geeta Kapur, Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN, disclosed that the tentative construction and development cost of this project is Rs. 1,100 crores. The project is slated to be developed at the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) Solar Park in Khavda, Kachchh district, Gujarat. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be signed with GUVNL once the tariff is approved by GERC. The project is expected to be operational within 18 months from the date of the PPA signing.It is anticipated that the project will generate 508.40 million units of energy in its first-year post-commissioning, with a cumulative energy generation projected to be about 11,698.16 million units over 25 years. Commissioning this project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5,73,210 tonnes.
