The company addresses all cybersecurity compliance requirements and implements asset performance monitoring, demonstrating a unique capability that is unparalleled in the country and that greatly benefits customers.
From bolstering transmission asset monitoring to integrating renewable energy sources, L&T Digital Energy Solutions’ software-defined solutions ensure grid reliability and cybersecurity. The company’s participation in exhibitions like India Smart Utility Week which is being organised by India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) facilitates collaboration, aligns with industry trends, and fosters expertise exchange for a robust energy future. In discussions with EPR Magazine, Suvendra Kumar Senapati highlights L&T Digital Energy Solutions’ pivotal role in advancing India’s power sector through innovative projects.
What are some key projects undertaken by L&T Digital Energy Solutions across different regions in India and abroad?
In the context of India, we are engaged in several projects focusing on transmission asset monitoring for India’s Power Grid Corporation. Simultaneously, NTPC is overhauling its existing system for 400 substations, incorporating SCADA, remote assist systems, automatic fault analysis, LMED, and cybersecurity measures. These enhancements will significantly improve availability and expedite power restoration, furthering unmanned operations with seamless, cyber-secure substation management.
Additionally, projects such as the Mumbai SCADA distribution management system and MGVCL Gujarat underscore our involvement in control centre upgrades for both transmission and distribution. Renewal efforts extend to NTPC, Gujarat Energy Corp., and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, where we deploy our Hybrid Energy Management Controller for solar plants.
Transitioning to the Middle East, we are spearheading one of the largest renewable plants, generating 3.6 gigawatts, focusing on supplying power for renewable green hydrogen production. Our involvement encompasses integrating EPAmes cybersecurity, conducting simulation studies, and ensuring compatibility across diverse environments.
Expanding to the USA, projects in Philadelphia and Florida, funded by DOV and serving customers like Blink, highlight our contributions to EV solutions. Furthermore, collaborations with the California Energy Commission encompass long-duration studies, V2, and V2g implementations, alongside initiatives in balancing customer authority management.
How does L&T Digital Energy Solutions aid in integrating renewables like solar and wind into India’s power grid?Software-defined, operating system-agnostic solutions facilitate the integration of power sources into the grid, managing power quality and quantity at the corporate control level. This pioneering approach is implemented in NTPC projects in Gujarat. Additionally, Gujarat has taken strides in virtualisation.
We offer a unified solution for managing solar generation and hybrid energy source storage. Our endeavours extend to forecasting settlement and cybersecurity for solar generation plants integrated into the Indian grid.
In other projects for the power grid with NTPC, we are addressing all cybersecurity compliance requirements and implementing asset performance monitoring. This demonstrates our unique capability, which is unparalleled in the country and greatly benefits our customers.
How have exhibitions like the India Smart Utility Week helped the industry?
It is an outstanding platform that gathers numerous government agencies, specialists, industry representatives, regulators, and academia. This venue provides an excellent opportunity for sharing challenges and exchanging expertise, offering valuable assistance as we align with industry trends and advancements.
