Union Ministry for New and Renewable Energy recognised J&K’s contributions at RE-Invest 24′
Jammu and Kashmir have received prestigious accolades from the Union Ministry for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), securing the highest achiever awards for Hydro Power Capacity and overall Renewable Energy Capacity. Additionally, the Union Territory was recognised as the third-highest achiever in Solar Power Capacity among all Union Territories.
These honours were presented during the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investment Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST), celebrating India’s milestone of achieving 200 GW of non-fossil power capacity. Jammu and Kashmir’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio, especially in the hydro and solar sectors, has played a pivotal role in this national achievement.A delegation representing J&K included Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner Secretary of the Science & Technology Department, and P. R. Dhar, CEO of the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), along with other JAKEDA. The UT was specifically acknowledged as a key stakeholder at the event, highlighting its significant contributions to India’s renewable energy landscape.
