In Industry 4.0 in addition to condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, component and systems are able to gauge self productiveness which provides more information to management.
Vinod Sharma, Managing Director, Deki Electronics
Vinod Sharma, Managing Director, Deki Electronics, discusses how Industry 4.0 is getting acceptance from people as the consumers are finding Industry 4.0 more convenient and easier to adapt as everything is coming on the user’s fingertips.
What is going to be your focus in this edition of ELECRAMA?
Deki Electronics Ltd is one of the India’s largest manufacturer of Plastic Film capacitors with a capacity of 1.2 billion pieces per annum. This is made at its state of art plant in Noida, UP. Deki has been one of the leading supplier of capacitors to the Indian lighting industry. But since last 2 years we are focusing on the Indian industrial segment. ELECRAMA being India’s largest exhibition for Electrical Industry is the perfect platform for our new range of capacitors. We are focusing on capacitors for the Industrial UPS/Inverter segment, Welding machines, Energy Meters, Fan Motor Run, Inverter AC and Electric Vehicle chargers.
How do you view the rise of IoT and Industry 4.0 in transforming the sector?
Industry 4.0 is the name for the current trend of Automation and Data Exchange in manufacturing technologies. It includes cyber physical systems, the internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing.
It is also referred to as the 4th Industrial Revolution
A traditional factory provides high-end quality service or product with least cost
Utilisation of data for understanding current operating condition and detecting fault and failure is important. Various tools are available to provide OEE information to management and to highlight root cause of problem and possible fault in system.
In Industry 4.0 in addition to condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, component and systems are able to gauge self-awareness and self-productiveness which provides more information to management. Further peer to peer comparison and fusion of health information from various components provides a precise health prediction in component and system level to trigger required maintenance at best possible time to reduce maintenance to JIT and gain near zero downtime.
What kind of opportunities do you see in smart electricity for India? Can you brief about the latest innovations and additions for your range of solutions?
Deki is forever adding to its range of products. Targeted turnover from new products is >25 percent. In the last two years, we have introduced the following new capacitors:
Semi-conductor switches and the input DC bus. The most commonly used DC Link capacitors are of two types:
The transient voltage caused by the high DI/DT that occurs at gate turn off is minimised. Left uncontrolled, this transient voltage can exceed the blocking voltage.
Rating of the IGBT can cause it to fail. In order to minimise the transient voltage, a wound construction polypropylene film capacitor is mounted as close to the IGBT terminals as possible.
4) Fan Motor Run capacitor: One of the biggest problems with this capacitor is drop in capacitance value over time. Deki’s unique process ensures that this drop in capacitance is minimal.
What are your plans and projections for next two years?
We are optimistic that the industry would pick up from April 2020. We are targeting a growth of >20 percent in 2020-21 and another 20 percent in 2021-2022. 50 percent share of Deki sale is in the Industrial segment and 3 percent in Auto segment. In the next 2 to 3 years our aim is to increase the share of Auto to >5 percent whilst maintaining our share in Industrial to around 50 percent. We also plan to increase our export by 20 percent y-o-y. Our focus is the US market where we see a big opportunity looking at their import figures.
