In a discussion, Vikram Bhansali, Director, Metravi Instruments Pvt Ltd and CEM Instruments India Pvt Ltd, explains how the quality of products affects the data that can be tested or measured. He also discusses the smart solutions provided by the company.
What potential opportunities do you see in the domestic market for test and measurement products?
Considering the “Make in India” initiative and the investments coming in to build factories and infrastructure, there are now several opportunities to push good quality production. Low quality products are not going to last and good quality products you can sell anywhere. It’s an open market.
What kind of new technologies are being launched in the T&M market?
One of the current and continued trends is the communication ability between the instruments via the Internet. We provide Bluetooth connections for our instruments so that you can log on to your laptop or mobile device, collect the required data on the device and transfer all the data to the Internet directly. So, all the data that you’re measuring is available online without any time loss and it can be accessed from anywhere. You can also store the readings on cloud storage. So, if you want to retrieve the readings later on, that too is possible from anywhere.
How are T&M products contributing to sustainability and efficiency?
Contributing towards sustainability and efficiency usually happens in the factory at the production level. The product has to be manufactured with materials which are of good quality and don’t harm the environment. The supplies and testing have to be very precise. To support those receptor sites in measurements and testing, you require efficient products. So unless the test and measuring instruments are really good, you will not be able to attain accuracies in your measurements while you are testing the material or the finished product.
