In a discussion, Ravi Kumar, Product Manager, Chainflex®, igus, explains how the company’s major focus is to reach all its customers so that it can study their needs and application and help them with re-innovation — “REINNO” — of designs. Another key highlight of this interaction was how igus has developed the sophisticated smart plastics to be connected with the concept of smart factory.

What is going to be your focus in this edition of ELECRAMA 2020?
In ELECRAMA, our main focus is to reach our customers so that we can do “REINNO”, i.e., visit our customers and study their needs and application to re-innovate designs. We will offer our customers with the cheapest solution that works for them, thereby benefitting them with the best technology and solutions to their problems at a low cost.

How do you view the rise of IoT and Industry 4.0 in transforming the sector?
Industry 4.0 is ready to gear up in an industrial revolution wherein all the machines are equipped with the ability to communicate each other. It is the biggest upcoming trend towards data exchange in manufacturing industry and automation process. “Industry 4.0”, “Internet of Things”, and “Smart Factory” — these concepts are no longer a vague promise of what is to come. Companies are already able to benefit from the use of intelligent systems and products. igus has developed sophisticated smart plastics by using diverse sensors and monitoring modules for energy chains, plain bearings, linear bearings and slewing ring bearings. These intelligent i-sense modules can predict the service life which will be helpful in planning for replacement and any other course of action.

Can you brief about the latest innovations and additions for your range of solutions?
We have a wide range of products in cables, energy chains, bearings, linear guides, etc., which provides solutions to many problems. We have introduced the smallest bending radius cables for very rapid moments (high speed) in machines. Speed is 10 m/s and bending factor is 4 X OD. The beauty of these products is that we can offer minimum 40 Mil Double Stroke Guarantee for these cables — CF98 and CF99 with TPE outer jacket.

What are your plans and projections for the next two years?
We in igus always try to give the best services to our customers. Our aim is to introduce the world’s number one catalogue with 24-hour delivery information. Most of the items we will bring in our 24-hour dispatch range will help customers order online without any difficulty.
