We have tried to translate the needs of consultants, panel makers and end-users into features and functionalities that are intelligent and convenient to use across segments like industry and buildings.
S.C. Bhargava, Senior Vice President and Head of L&T Electrical & Automation
The Electrical & Automation (E&A) business of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) displayed its robust and reliable solutions in power distribution and control systems at the ELECRAMA 2018. Its range of smart solutions in MV and LV space covered power quality, energy management, metering and protection, industrial automation, switchgear selection, modernisation of installations, SCADA etc.
Translating industry requirements of today’s evolving electrical systems into a high-performance product and solution, L&T’s E&A arm introduced its all new d-sine DZ range of Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB). According to the company, the d-sine DZ range is a culmination of innovation leading to 150 patents.
The range comes with significantly higher fault breaking capacities and seamlessly fits into the requirements of renewable power generating systems at higher voltages. The new d-sine DZ meets the needs of smart systems with communication capabilities over various popular protocols like Modbus, Ethernet and even IEC61850. The intelligent electronic trip units of d-sine DZ offer smart protection and integration through multiple add on modules like communication module, ZSI module, over temperature module, programmable relay module etc.
Committed to smart partnering
Introducing the new range of MCCBs, S.C. Bhargava, Senior Vice President and Head of L&T Electrical & Automation, said, “The new d-sine DZ MCCBs are an outcome of customers’ expectations and industry’s needs. We have tried to translate the needs of consultants, panel makers and end-users into features and functionalities that are intelligent and convenient to use across segments like industry and buildings. In addition to being the anchor product in our participation in ELECRAMA 2018, this MCCB further strengthens our commitment to smart partnering.”
Advantages d-sine
The suitability of d-sine DZ range for use with IE3 motors goes a long way in securing energy efficiency. The significantly lower let through energy ensures lesser stress on the system and offers smarter and compact motor control solution. The unique Plug-in and Draw-outs accessories with multiple user-friendly features offer easier conversion from fixed to withdrawable versions. Where space is a constraint, users of the new d-sine DZ will benefit the most with best-in-class sizes up to 800 A. The MCCB offers intelligent electronic trip units even in the smallest 75 mm 160A frame size. The complete family of MCCB uses only two sizes of internal accessories thus reducing the inventories.
Smart Switchboards
In the medium voltage category display, L&T’s E&A introduced the new Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) featuring higher operational safety with minimal maintenance and sealed-for-life system. Its modular design provides a perfect platform for building reliable distribution network in compact space. The Ring Main Unit (RMU) is a compact, modular and extendable SF6 Gas Insulated switchgear with vacuum interrupter-based circuit breaker. RMU provides safe, reliable and cost-effective solution to switching operations in secondary distribution network with minimum maintenance.
In the low voltage system solution, the company brought its T-Era range of Power Control Centers and Motor Control Centers that provide perfect balance of cost-effectiveness, compactness, reliability and safety for industries, buildings and infrastructure sectors. Also, on display is T-EZ, a new range of Sub Main Distribution Board with higher safety, modularity and flexibility for infrastructure applications in airports, hospitals, metros, data centers and townships. Further, electrical monitoring and control system for substation automation was also showcased.
Smart Automation
In the smart automation section, E&A displayed Smart Transmission Operational System (STOMS) which would help State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) achieve accurate and timely scheduling, settlement and invoicing. The system would be useful to an operator for streamlining business processes and necessary controls for reduced operational risks. The demo covered functionalities like automatic meter data acquisition, drawl scheduling, deviation settlement and open access mechanism.
E&A also showcased a Smart Panel that swiftly switches between solar and grid electricity based on healthiness of the feeder, with solar as default source of electricity. This enables optimum utilisation of a solar installation thereby reducing the break-even period. Smartness built in this panel is in the form of a communicable controller that enables remote operation and monitoring on real time basis. Integration with SCADA further provides the real time parameters in the form of better graphic and controllability of the panel from local/ remote location.
iVisionmax SCADA
All business – from critical to recreations – require SCADA systems to improve operational efficiency while reducing cost and maintaining production levels. AT ELECRAMA 2018, L&T’s E&A division showcased its SCADA solution that suits large to small applications. iVisionmax is designed to meet the ever-changing control monitoring needs of modern applications. It is built on an open architecture and provides a robust, scalable, industry-neutral foundation for an enterprise. iVisionmax supports hundreds to thousands of tags, single to distributed multi-user systems. From rich graphics to spreadsheets, it provides different options to deliver data to users.
E&A also showcased products and solutions for building management system for smart building operations. The demo included Controllers & Peripherals (L&T Atmos) for BMS application and the enterprise level platform LTAB iBS for IBMS application. The solution addresses the issues of energy efficiency, security and gives building operators a unified platform through which they can effortlessly and effectively manage operations in hospitals, hotels, data center, commercial, airports and industries.
