The Indian Electrical equipment industry is growing at a fast pace. Where do you see HPL in this growth trajectory?
The electrical power sector is experiencing robust growth, and HPL stands out as a key player in this expansion. With a primary focus on smart metering, HPL is successfully leveraging the government’s RDSS scheme to install an impressive 25 crore smart meters in the country. The company plays a crucial role in developing, designing, and installing these meters, showcasing its comprehensive infrastructure.
Amidst the flourishing infrastructure and housing sectors, a notable demand surge for switchgear has been observed throughout the past year and the first nine months of the current year. HPL is capitalising on this growth, particularly witnessing substantial expansion in the switchgear, wire, and cable sectors. The company is actively investing in research and development to introduce new products and applications, specifically emphasising LED technology across its entire range.
Smart city lighting is a major focal point for HPL, extending its reach across industrial, commercial, residential, and retail segments. This comprehensive approach encompasses metering, switchgear, wire and cable, lighting, and solar solutions. HPL’s commitment to research and development underscores its dedication to innovation, driving product development and expanding its market presence. The company is well-positioned to tap into the promising potential for expansion in these areas, solidifying its status as a frontrunner in the evolving electrical power landscape.
How has HPL ensured that its products meet and exceed Indian and international standards?HPL has strategically aligned its product verticals with rigorous R&D and testing standards, particularly catering to Indian requirements. The company consistently ensures compliance by subjecting all products to international vendor testing. MCB has been tested to PCB standards and is approved in 54 countries, while the laboratory holds approval from the Dekra European Organisation. Lighting and switchgear have undergone thorough testing for international standards, with harbour fans meeting local market regulations.
Having ventured into the international market in the last two years, HPL obtained the G-Mark standard, making products compliant in the Middle East and Gulf countries. The focus on growth extends beyond manufacturing to encompass testing, certifications, and meeting R&D demands. The adaptability of product ranges, especially switchgear, reflects the commitment to tailoring solutions based on customer requirements.
