Energy security is a critical challenge for India as it seeks to meet its growing energy demands while transitioning to a more sustainable future. Solar energy, with its vast potential and environmental benefits, is emerging as a key solution to these challenges. By harnessing the abundant sunlight across the country, solar power reduces dependency on fossil fuels, enhances energy security, and contributes to a diversified energy mix. In the end, this supports ambitious goals for India’s sustainable and inclusive development. Industry experts share their thoughts on this transformation, driving innovation and increasing production capacities.

Solar energy addresses India’s energy security challenges while promoting ecological sustainability. Chirag Nakrani, Founder and Managing Director- Rayzon Solar, shares, “We believe that solar energy plays a crucial role in addressing energy security challenges in India while fostering ecologically sustainable growth. By harnessing the abundant sunlight available across the country, solar energy reduces dependency on fossil fuels, which enhances energy security and stabilises the energy supply.” He further states that solar power is a clean, renewable resource that significantly lowers greenhouse gas emissions and mitigates environmental impact. Investing in solar infrastructure not only supports the goal of reducing carbon footprints in India but also drives sustainable development by creating jobs, boosting local economies, and advancing technological innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Siddharth Gangal, Founder of ARKA 360, says, “As the country continues to transition away from fossil fuels, solar power offers a viable alternative that reduces environmental impact and supports sustainable economic growth. We at ARKA 360’s solutions streamline the deployment of solar projects, making it easier for businesses and communities to harness clean energy. By simplifying complex processes and providing reliable tools, we help drive the adoption of solar power across India, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Rajib Das, Co-Founder & Director- of Greenfinity Powertech, opines that solar energy offers a reliable solution to India’s energy security challenges by harnessing its vast solar potential. As a renewable resource, it reduces dependence on fossil fuels, enhances energy independence, and supports a diversified energy mix. He says, “By investing in solar infrastructure, India can meet its growing energy demands while contributing to global climate goals. With its abundant sunlight, India is well-positioned to significantly increase solar energy share in its energy mix, paving the way for a sustainable and secure future.”

Strategies to meet ‘Viksit Bharat’ goals

As the government announced the ‘Viksit Bharat’ goals, the industrialists began to follow in their footsteps to achieve the vision. Siddharth Gangal says, “To support the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision, we are committed to accelerating solar adoption across India. Our advanced solar design and management tools empower installers to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and scale their operations rapidly.” He further says that this approach contributes to the growth of the solar industry and plays a crucial role in ensuring a more energy-secure India. By making solar solutions more accessible and efficient, ARKA 360 directly contributes to the nation’s goal of sustainable and inclusive development.

Chirag Nakrani shares that their strategies aligning with the Viksit Bharat goals include accelerating the deployment of advanced solar technologies, such as high-efficiency N-Topcon panels, and expanding production capabilities to meet growing energy demands. He says, “By increasing our production capacity to 10 GW in India by 2024 and planning to launch a 1.0 GW TOPCon cell manufacturing plant by 2025, we are committed to enhancing the reliability and performance of our solar solutions.” He adds that investing in state-of-the-art testing facilities and expanding the workforce, currently at 2000 employees, will support India’s transition to renewable energy, drive innovation, create additional job opportunities, and strengthen the domestic solar industry. Rayzon Solar’s efforts will contribute to sustainable development and energy security, positioning India as a global leader in solar energy.

“Meeting the Viksit Bharat goals is a highly ambitious target, and we are excited about the opportunity it presents. We have developed comprehensive strategies to achieve these objectives, including innovative approaches in technology, infrastructure, and sustainable practices,” says Rajib Das. He adds that the current favourable market conditions provide a strong foundation for the plans. He is confident that Greenfinity initiatives will contribute significantly to the nation’s development and positively impact the industry by driving growth, encouraging investment, and fostering innovation. The enthusiasm and commitment from all stakeholders further strengthen the company’s resolve to achieve these goals.

Foreign capital investment

Foreign capital investment is one of the major aspects of renewable energy development. Chirag Nakrani states, “We have witnessed significant benefits from foreign capital investment in India’s solar panel manufacturing sector. The influx of international investment has accelerated technological advancements, enhanced production capabilities, and fostered innovation within the industry.” He says that this financial support has enabled Rayzon Solar to scale up its operations, adopt cutting-edge technologies like N-Topcon, and expand its production capacity to meet growing demand. Additionally, it has facilitated the development of infrastructure and research facilities, further boosting the growth and competitiveness of India’s solar manufacturing sector on the global stage. The recent budget announcement, which includes increased funding and incentives for renewable energy projects, is expected to amplify these benefits further, providing additional support for industry growth and sustainability initiatives.

Rajib Das shares that foreign capital investment has significantly contributed to the growth of solar panel manufacturing in India by providing the necessary financial resources, technology transfer, and expertise. This influx of funds has enabled the establishment of manufacturing facilities, increased production capacity, and driven technological advancements. He says, “The sector has benefited from the support of international investors, allowing India to enhance its domestic solar panel production and reduce dependency on imports. However, to sustain and accelerate this growth, continued foreign investment is essential for further expansion, innovation, and achieving the country’s renewable energy goals.”
