In the last three years, industry has gone through the phenomenal changes under the current leadership. New initiates such as 24×7 Power for all, DDUGJY, IPDS, UMPPs, UDAY etc has started hitting at grass root challenges however, final outcomes will be realised in the long term only. Specific to rooftop, industry has moved from couple of MWs to GW under the government vision of achieving 40 GW by 2022. But still have to travel several miles, believes Alok Verma, AVP-Policy and Regulatory of Amplus Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd
Saubhagya and UDAY
One single initiative cannot be a game changer alone, comments Verma. He says, “Power sector is dealing with magnitude of issues and every corner needs to be dealt collectively. However, we feel recently announced Saubhagya and UDAY scheme will bring monumental changes in the industry.”
Saubhagya would create a larger value (not the cost) to distributed sources of energy (including solar). UDAY aims on improving the financial health of discoms, it will certainly increase the acceptance of solar rooftop and other distributed generation sources. Besides, recent government push is bringing new business verticals; e-mobility, storage, ancillary services, smart grid integration and most importantly integration of energy sources with each other. These will be major game changer and results can be seen in few years down the lines, predicts Verma.
Amplus’s performanceAmplus Energy has been the recipient of various awards in the past year in different services that it offers.
Meeting the clean energy demands
The overall vision of Amplus is to enable commercial and industrial establishments in need of 24×7 electricity to meet a considerable fraction of their energy needs through clean and green solar energy. This includes internal target to achieve 300 MW installed capacity in near term of 1 year. The long-term vision with reference to battery energy storage solution includes plans to bring on-board petrol pumps and create 24×7 operational charging stations. Apart from solar with BESS and regular portfolio of distributed solar, Amplus has also included newer opportunities such as smart cities and efficiency enhancement in its vision plan. The opportunity for the overall business of Amplus Energy (including all its product offerings in distributed solar) is huge given the solar mission of Indian government to achieve 100 GW cumulative solar capacity in the energy mix of the country by 2022.
