Accelerating India’s semiconductor ecosystem on the global stage

Semicon India 2023 aims to demonstrate India’s capabilities as a vibrant and sustainable manufacturing destination for global corporations.
SEMI, the organiser of Semicon conferences worldwide, aims to maximise the outreach of technological advancements and strengthen semiconductor ecosystems in different countries like the USA, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, where the semiconductor industry is well-established. In line with this, the Government of India announced the Semicon India Programme, a USD 10 billion initiative aimed at developing the semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem in the country. To showcase India’s potential as a hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, R&D, and manpower development, the Semicon India Conference 2022 was held in Bengaluru from April 29 to May 01, 2022, inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Building on the success of Semicon India 2022, the India Semiconductor Mission, an independent business division of the Digital India Corporation, is gearing up to organise Semicon India 2023 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, from July 28 to July 30, 2023. The event will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and aims to catalyse India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
In the lead-up to the main event, an exhibition at Mahatma Mandir was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendrabhai Patel, on July 25, 2023, in the presence of Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar. The exhibition showcases cutting-edge technologies from over 80 exhibitors, including semiconductor design start-ups, established multinationals, electronics manufacturers, academia, and government/state labs.
Union Minister of State, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, highlighted the significance of the Semicon India exhibition and its role in India’s tech-ade journey. He emphasised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the semiconductor ecosystem, encompassing design innovation, research, talent development, packaging, and fabs, to further catalyse the semiconductor industry in India.SemiconIndia 2023 aims to demonstrate India’s capabilities as a vibrant and sustainable manufacturing destination for global corporations. The event will witness participation from top leaders in industry, government, academia, and R&D institutions, focusing on aspects like Ease of Doing Business, building trusted value chains, innovation and startups, and talent pipeline.
Over the course of three days, the event will feature various sessions covering crucial aspects of developing a robust, resilient, and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in India. Eminent speakers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Communications and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, and industry leaders from companies like Micron, Cadence, Foxconn, AMD, and many others, will share their insights.
The event has received over 6,500 registrations, with participation from industry professionals, startups, students, and international delegates from 23 countries. The elaborate exhibitions are expected to attract around 7,000+ footfall each day, further showcasing the potential of India’s semiconductor industry on a global stage.
