New plant to power 1.1 lakh homes, reduce CO2 emissions, showcasing AGEL’s renewable leadership.
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s largest and one of the world’s leading renewable energy (RE) companies, has recently commissioned a 180 MW solar power plant in Devikot, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This plant has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Generating approximately 540 million units of electricity annually, the 180 MW solar plant will supply power to over 1.1 lakh homes and reduce approximately 0.39 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. To maximise efficiency, AGEL has deployed next-generation bifacial solar PV modules and horizontal single-axis solar trackers (HSAT), allowing for optimal sunlight tracking throughout the day.
Moreover, the plant is equipped with waterless robotic module cleaning systems, aiding in water conservation in the arid region of Jaisalmer. Real-time monitoring of AGEL’s renewable energy assets is facilitated through the Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC), which is anchored in a secured digital cloud platform, thus enhancing operational performance. This successful commissioning increases AGEL’s operational solar portfolio to 6,243 MW and its total operational renewable generation capacity to 9,784 MW, making it the largest in India. AGEL continues to play a crucial role in India’s renewable energy sector, contributing to the nation’s goal of achieving energy security and facilitating its transition to a low-carbon economy.
