BHEL receives a contract for the renovation and modernisation of steam turbines at Gujarat’s Ukai thermal power station.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been given the contract to renovate and modernise the steam turbines at Gujarat’s Ukai Thermal Power Station (TPS).
Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited has given BHEL an order for R&M of the 200 MW Unit-3 and the 210 MW Unit-5 that is estimated to be worth roughly ₹300 Crore. Notably, BHEL is also the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of these turbine sets, which were used for R&M after about 40 years of successful operations.
The R&M work being done by BHEL will increase the efficiency levels of these turbines, addressing the issue of technological obsolescence and making them more environmentally friendly while also extending the life and reliability of Units 3 and 5 at Ukai TPS.
