Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced an expanded partnership with Bangalore-based eMobility provider IONAGE to significantly improve the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in India. This collaboration seeks to enhance the convenience and accessibility of charging stations nationwide, aligning with the government’s ambitious goals for widespread EV adoption by 2030.
Under this initiative, BPCL’s extensive network of chargers will be integrated into IONAGE’s innovative platform, which plans to deploy over 100,000 charging points by 2028. The agreement was signed by senior executives from both companies, including BPCL’s Chief General Manager of Marketing, S. Kannan, and IONAGE CEO, Vimal Kumar, in a ceremony that highlighted the importance of this collaboration.
Pardeep Goyal, BPCL’s Business Head of Retail, emphasised the partnership’s focus on customer convenience, stating, “We are delighted to extend our partnership with IONAGE. Customer accessibility and convenience are top concerns for BPCL when it comes to charging infrastructure.” The integration will allow EV owners to access a diverse range of charging stations from various Charge Point Operators through a single platform.Vimal Kumar expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “Our goal at IONAGE is to build a comprehensive ecosystem that meets the needs of all electric vehicle owners and operators. Partnering with BPCL is a significant step towards making EV charging more accessible and dependable throughout India.”
This partnership responds to the growing demand for public EV charging stations, a critical factor in supporting India’s transition to clean energy and sustainable transportation. As the nation moves towards its 2030 EV targets, the BPCL-IONAGE collaboration is poised to address key infrastructure gaps and foster an environment conducive to electric mobility.
