IEC Nanjing and Huawei forge strategic alliance for power digitalisation

The alliance will pioneer collaboration to accelerate digital transformation, set standards, and propel the global power industry into the future.
The IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei have formalised a strategic cooperation agreement, aiming to collaborate extensively across various fields to expedite the digital transformation of the electric power industry in China.
As outlined in the agreement, the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei will establish mechanisms for reciprocal high-level visits and regular exchanges. The two entities will consistently convene meetings to delve into the prevailing trends and challenges in the digital transformation of the electric power industry, strategising on effective approaches to address them. Additionally, they will fortify exchanges and collaboration in the realm of electric power digitalisation. Simultaneously, both parties will institute a joint standards research and development mechanism to devise and advocate relevant standards and regulations pertinent to power digitalisation. This concerted effort is intended to make substantial contributions to the advancement of the power industry by replicating successful practices and disseminating experiences on a global scale.
The formalisation of this agreement signifies a pivotal milestone in the collaborative endeavors between the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei. Established by the Standardisation Administration of China (SAC) and the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE), the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) is dedicated to providing support and services for relevant Chinese and international institutions, enterprises, and experts participating in IEC international standardisation activities. Huawei, recognized as one of the foremost partners, has collaborated closely with over 190 power companies globally and actively supports and engages in standard-setting initiatives, thereby contributing to the construction of a robust industrial ecosystem. With an eye toward the future, both entities aspire to sustain their collaborative efforts in advancing the digitalisation of electric power, with the overarching goal of facilitating the global power industry’s transition toward smart technologies.The agreement was signed by Fan Jianbin, Director General of the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing), and David Sun, CEO of Huawei’s Electric Power Digitalisation Business Unit. Noteworthy witnesses to this landmark agreement were Shu Yinbiao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and the 36th President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), along with Guo Ping, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Huawei.
