India and Myanmar show power sector commitment under iTEC

The collaboration between India and Myanmar under the ITEC Programme demonstrates their commitment to advancing knowledge exchange in the power industry and fostering stronger bilateral ties.
Five training sessions are being offered to power sector professionals from Myanmar by NTPC Ltd., the largest power-producing firm in India. As a part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, the premier platform for capacity building under the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India, these programmes are being carried out under the India-Myanmar Government to Government framework for cooperation in the power sector.
The first four of the five programmes have been finished. The Myanmar electricity industry experts responded positively to all four of them. The four schemes covered microgrids, electric vehicles, batteries, charging stations, cross-border energy trading, smart grids, and electric vehicles. The first two tests were administered in March–April 2023, while the latter two were administered in June 2023.
The inauguration celebration at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi marked the start of the final of these five sessions, on the “Solar Energy & Photovoltaic (PV) System,” recently. The programme, whose completion date is set for June 23, 2023, intends to provide participants with complete information on Solar PV Projects, including technical components, economics, cost-benefit analysis, policy frameworks, project design, implementation, and related difficulties.
Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Vinay Kumar, Director of Finance at NTPC Ltd., J. Srinivasan, Director of Development Partnership Administration at the Ministry of External Affairs, A. Bhattacharyya, Director of the NTPC School of Business, Dr. Rajeshwari Narendran, Head of International Business Development at NTPC, Dr. J. S. Chandok, and Under Secretary (Myanmar) at the Ministry of External Affairs were all present at the opening ceremony. In their remarks, they emphasised the importance of the training programme in encouraging collaboration and improving skills in the power sector. There were twenty participants, including eleven females.The collaboration between India and Myanmar under the ITEC Programme demonstrates their commitment to advancing knowledge exchange in the power industry and fostering stronger bilateral ties.
The training programmes run by NTPC under the aegis of the ITEC serve as a testament to the company’s commitment to sharing knowledge and industry best practices to advance sustainable and clean energy solutions.
