India’s coal production increased by 12 percent in F.Y.22-23

Coal Dispatch Increases by 7.49 percent to 83.18 MT in March, 2023 Increases by 12 percent, and Coal-Based Power Generation achieves a 5.70 percent Increase.
India produced 12.03 percent more coal in March 2023 than it did in March 22; the country produced 107.84 MT as opposed to 96.26 MT. According to the Ministry of Coal’s preliminary figures, growth in the captive mines/others, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), and Coal India Ltd. (CIL) for March 23 was 4.06 percent, 8.53 percent, and 81.35 percent, respectively.
29 of the top 37 coal mines in the nation produced more than 100 percent of the nation’s coal, and another six produced between 80 percent and 100 percent.
Coal despatch climbed 7.49 percent to 83.18 MT in March 23 from 77.38 MT in March 22 at the same time. CIL, SCCL, and captives and others dispatched 64.15 MT, 6.70 MT, and 12.32 MT, respectively, in March 23, registering growth of 3.40 percent, 12.61 percent, and 31.15 percent.When compared to Mar’22, when the power utility dispatch was 65.51 MT, it scaled by 4.36 percent to 68.36 MT in Mar’23. Overall power generation in Mar’23 was 4.59 percent greater than power produced in Mar’22, and coal-based power generation increased by 5.70 percent in comparison to Mar’22. Additionally, overall power generation increased in March 23 by 9.13 percent to 139718 MU from 128026 MU in February 23.
