India’s first group captive solar plant for a residential society

Tata Power Renewables will build India’s first group captive solar plant for a housing society. For which an agreement has been signed to supply clean energy to the Vivarea Condominium in Mumbai, to build a 3.125 MW solar power plant in Himayatnagar, Maharashtra, to provide solar energy to the community.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power and one of India’s largest comprehensive renewable energy companies, has signed a solar power supply agreement with Vivarea Condominium, a residential society in Mumbai. The 3.125 MW solar plant, is a first of its kind and will be built in Himayatnagar, Maharashtra, to provide clean energy to the community.
TPREL will build, operate, and maintain this captive solar power plant, which is expected to generate 7.5 MU of energy and offset 6.15 metric tonnes of CO2 in the first year of its commencement. The project will be completed by October 2023 and will provide green power to Vivarea Condominium at a cost that of approximately 40 percent less than the current tariff.
Tata Power’s installation of this group captive solar plant will make Vivarea Condominium the country’s first residential society to use captive solar energy for domestic purposes. The project is in line with the company’s ongoing commitment to providing its customers with energy security, equity, and sustainability.
