Sustainable Partnership for Solar Module Manufacturing and Clean Energy Generation in India.
INOX Air Products (INOXAP), India’s largest manufacturer of industrial and medical gases, has entered into a 20-year contract with First Solar, a leading American solar technology company and global provider of comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) solar energy solutions. This agreement encompasses the entire process, from designing and engineering to installing and operating a Cryogenic Nitrogen Generator that will provide high-purity Nitrogen to First Solar’s new manufacturing facility in Pillaipakkam, Tamil Nadu.
The Cryogenic Nitrogen Generator developed by INOXAP will possess a capacity of 2400 Nm3/hour, enabling it to supply Nitrogen and other essential industrial gases to First Solar’s facility for utilisation in its manufacturing operations.
Commenting on the contract, Siddharth Jain, Managing Director – INOX Air Products adds, “At INOX Air Products, we are committed to provide innovative solutions that promote generation of clean energy and help reduce the carbon footprint. We are delighted to partner with First Solar, a global provider of eco-efficient solar modules, as they begin their India journey. This partnership aligns with our endeavors to create a more sustainable future for the next generation. We are excited to be part of this transformative journey and look forward to contribute towards the nation’s sustainable development goals.”“Our fully vertically integrated manufacturing facility supports India’s ambitions of decarbonization and energy security,”said Sujoy Ghosh, Vice President and Managing Director of First Solar in India.“INOX Air Products’ expertise in managing large-scale and complex engineering projects, and safely and reliably delivering industrial gases, made it a solid choice as a partner for this project.”
First Solar’s new facility, slated for commissioning in the latter half of 2023 with an annual nameplate capacity of 3.4 gigawatts (GWDC), will engage in the production of high-efficiency solar modules. These modules, responsibly produced by First Solar, are characterised by their advanced thin film photovoltaic (PV) technology, setting industry standards in terms of quality, durability, reliability, design, and environmental performance. Notably, the company’s solar modules boast the smallest carbon and water footprint among commercially available PV modules today and are the initial PV manufacturer to be featured in the global registry for sustainable electronics, the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT).
