IntelliSmart’s INSTINCT 3.0 focuses on practical solutions through smart meters

IntelliSmart’s INSTINCT 3.0 was launched at the plenary session of the National Dialogue on ‘Smart-Metered India for a Digitalised and People-centric Power Sector’ to develop creative solutions to the problems with smart metering’s practical implementation.

IntelliSmart Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., India’s leading provider of smart meters and digital solutions, recently presented the third edition of its flagship innovation challenge and hackathon, INSTINCT. The National Dialogue on “Smart-Metered India for a Digitalized and People-centric Power Sector,” organised jointly by IntelliSmart and the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water, included INSTINCT 3.0 as a curtain raiser. It was launched by Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy R. K. Singh.

Speaking of the launch, Anil Rawal, MD and CEO of IntelliSmart, said, “We take pride in the fact that in a short span of time, INSTINCT has become an innovation hotbed of the power distribution sector in general and specifically for smart metering industry, widely regarded by the innovation community of the country as the flagship Hackathon. We have already incubated some of the winning ideas of the previous editions of INSTINCT for mass-scale commercialisation.”

The annual IntelliSmart innovation challenge and hackathon, INSTINCT, has evolved into a hub for ground-breaking concepts and solutions for the power distribution sector. With 2665 participants, 2368 students, more than 900 colleges, 81 companies, 184 professionals, and 145 incubation centers involved since its debut, INSTINCT has experienced significant uptake. The hackathon has given brilliant ideas wings and provided their creators with a means of realising their full potential in practical applications.

The goal of INSTINCT 3.0 this year is to expand the potential for partnership and collaboration for commercialisation. The mission of IntelliSmart continues to be simple: to discover and develop novel concepts into powerful, paradigm-shifting products and solutions that will be essential to the nation’s ambition for the digitalisation of the power sector.

The focus of INSTINCT 3.0 will be on particular issues that have emerged as a result of the operational use of smart meter projects in the real world. These include creating a prototype of an energy exchange platform at a peer-to-peer level based on smart meters-enabled aggregated data and blockchain settlement that will allow consumers to sell energy and demonstrating a solution where the electricity smart meter host/gateway for connecting and managing home energy meters can be designed to be more reliable and able to withstand electricity surges up to 10 KV in an operating environment. The winning ideas will receive ₹ 10 lakh in prize money.
