IREDA allocates ₹ 1.05 crore for sport science centre in Uttarakhand

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), and SEWA-THDC, for providing financial assistance to develop a Sports Science Centre Hall at Koteshwar, Tehri aiming to support the training of Indian athletes in the Kayaking and Canoeing discipline.
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with SEWA-THDC, a THDCIL sponsored not-for-profit registered society, for providing financial assistance of ₹1.05 crore to develop a sport science centre. This comes under a CSR project of IREDA sanctioning the fund for the development of a Sports Science Centre Hall (approximately 298 sq. meters) at Koteshwar, Tehri in Uttarakhand to support the training of Indian athletes in the Kayaking & Canoeing discipline.
Speaking on the occasion Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA highlighted that the development of Sport Science Centre Hall is a fundamental milestone towards the planned development of a world-class High-Performance Academy dedicated to the sport of Kayaking and Canoeing, with the goal of long-term athlete development and excellence situated in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand. He emphasised, “The investment in sports-related activities ensures improvement in health care, and IREDA intends to support providing advanced facilities to the sportspersons for improvement in the overall health and performances in the sports of Kayaking & Canoeing”.
The MoA was signed by Durre Shahwar, Additional General Manager (HR), IREDA and Amardeep, General Manager (S&E), THDCIL in the presence of Pradip Kumar Das, CMD (IREDA), Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance and Projects), IREDA, Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDCIL and other Senior management of IREDA.The CSR initiative is covered under the CSR activities notified under schedule VII of Section 135 of the Company’s Act – which uplifts training to promote rural sports, nationally recognised sports, paralympic sports and Olympic sports.
