Cutting-edge facility underscores commitment to sustainability; equipped for 1GW scalability, pioneering solar technology.
Luminous Power Technologies, India’s foremost energy solutions company, took a significant step toward bolstering its commitment to sustainability and solar initiatives by inaugurating a Solar Panel Factory in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. This endeavor aligns with the nation’s solar vision and sustainability goals as outlined by the Honorable Prime Minister during the momentous launch of the ‘PM Suryodaya Yojana’.
The facility, equipped with state-of-the-art solar panel manufacturing technology, emphasises maximum efficiency and minimal environmental impact. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of legendary cricketer and Luminous Brand Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar, along with Preeti Bajaj, CEO & MD of Luminous Power Technologies, and Manish Pant, Chairman of Luminous Board & Executive VP – International Operations, Schneider Electric.
This milestone marks an important stride for Luminous, signifying strategic business decisions aimed at transitioning from manufacturing top-tier products in the solar, inverter, and battery sectors to establishing a comprehensive solar energy management ecosystem. This ecosystem will include the flagship Connect X App, providing customers with insightful real-time data on energy consumption, solar energy generation, and inverter performance.

With this state-of-the-art facility, Luminous is well-positioned to further accelerate its solar business, given India’s evolving renewable energy market.”As the largest solar panel factory in Uttarakhand, the facility spans across 10 acres, fully automated and equipped with cutting-edge solar module manufacturing technologies. It proudly stands as the country’s pioneer in future module technology, boasting fully robotic automation capabilities for producing high-quality modules. Initially launched with a capacity of 250MW, this state-of-the-art plant is scalable up to 1 GW.
During the event, Luminous impressed attendees with the unveiling of the Luminous Experience Centre and an Experience on Wheels Bus. Offering an immersive ecosystem, the experience center provided a virtual tour of the solar plant and its complete manufacturing process. Meanwhile, the Experience on Wheels Bus provided an electrifying experience powered by the sun, showcasing living spaces equipped with luminous solar panels and products.
Luminous has strategically partnered with The University of New South Wales, Australia, one of the world’s largest renewable energy schools, for Solar Panel projects focusing on Reliability, Value Engineering, and component qualification. This partnership enables Luminous to evaluate newer technologies well ahead of the curve, enhancing the company’s technological prowess. The plant is capable of manufacturing polycrystalline, monocrystalline, n-Type, and Topcon panels, both monofacial and bifacial, with the flexibility to adapt from 5BB to 16BB. With these capabilities, Luminous becomes proficient in managing all forms of rooftop solar panel requirements for residential or commercial purposes. Additionally, the site will house a state-of-the-art PV module performance efficiency and reliability evaluation lab, with potential NABL accreditation in the future.
