Highlighting the transformative journey of the nation’s power sector, he underscored the remarkable progress achieved over the past nine years. From a power-deficit scenario, India has emerged as a power-surplus nation, with an integrated grid operating seamlessly on a single frequency. Furthermore, the government is taking substantial efforts in strengthening the distribution systems across all states, funded with a sanctioned budget exceeding₹2 lakh crores. As a result, rural areas now enjoy an average of 20 ½ hours of power availability, while urban areas relish an average of 23 ½ hours.

In his address, the Minister underscored the Ministry of Power’s commitment to consumers’ rights through the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020, enacted under the Electricity Act, 2003. These rules ensure expedited services for new connections and refunds, enhancing the consumer experience.

The event also witnessed the felicitation of the dedicated engineers and workers responsible for the successful completion of Unit #2 (660MW) of the Barh project. Gyanendra Kumar Singh, MLA from Barh, also shared his perspectives during the event. Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC, extended a warm welcome to the Minister and other dignitaries, expressing gratitude for their continuous guidance and support. The occasion was graced by the presence of dignitaries such as K Sreekant, CMD of PowerGrid, Dilip Kumar Patel, Director (HR) of NTPC, Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, Director (Projects) of NTPC, and senior officials from the Government of Bihar, NTPC, and other key stakeholders.”
