NHPC wins bid for 200 MW solar project in Gujarat’s RE park

Project to generate 10,850 million units over 25 years, completion in 18 months.
NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company and a central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has successfully secured the bid to develop a 200 MW capacity Solar Power Project. This project is slated to be established within the 1,125 MW RE Park of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL) at Khavda in the Kachchh district of Gujarat.
Upon commissioning, the project is projected to generate approximately 473 million units of electricity in its first year. Over a span of 25 years, the cumulative energy generation is estimated to reach about 10,850 million units. NHPC is tasked with developing the project on a build-own-and-operate basis, with a tentative development cost of ₹ 847 crores.The e-reverse auction for the project was conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited on 2nd March 2024, with the Letter of Intent being issued on 14th March 2024. The project was secured at a tariff of ₹ 2.66 per unit and is expected to be completed within 18 months.
