NTPC partners NRL for green projects

The two firms signs pact to explore collaborative opportunities in the proposed bamboo-based Bio-Refinery at NTPC Bongaigaon.
NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, recently inked a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) to explore collaborative opportunities in the proposed bamboo-based Bio-Refinery at NTPC Bongaigaon, along with other eco-friendly projects. NRL, a subsidiary of Oil India Limited, is actively involved in refining and marketing petroleum products.
The objective behind this MoU is to bolster their presence in green chemicals and venture into sustainable solutions, aligning with the nation’s Net-Zero targets and contributing to the development of the North Eastern Region. The MoU, signed on January 30, 2024, was witnessed by prominent figures including Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC, Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD of OIL & Chairman of NRL and Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, MD of NRL.NTPC has set a firm commitment to achieve a Renewable Energy capacity of 60 GW by 2032 and emerge as a significant player in the domain of Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage. The company is actively pursuing various initiatives toward decarbonisation, encompassing areas such as Green Hydrogen, Biofuels, Carbon Capture, and Hydrogen Mobility.
