Cutting-edge technology to enhance communication system performance and support Indian Power System Operations.
R. K. Tyagi, CMD of POWERGRID, inaugurated the newly established Northern Region U-NMS Control Center. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel) of POWERGRID, A. K. Mishra, ED (NR-I), Burra Vamsi, COO of POWERTEL, Vikram Singh Bhal, ED (CMG-Coord.), A K Behera (ED, TBCB-AM), R N Gupta, CGM (AM, NR-I), Dr. Sunita Chohan (CGM, GA&C), and other senior officials.
The Unified Network Management System (UNMS) has been specifically designed to meet the requirements set forth by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Communication System for Inter State Transmission of Electricity) Regulation, 2017, and the Central Electrical Authority (Technical Standards for Communication System in Power Sector Operations) Regulations, 2020.The UNMS is poised to play a significant role in measuring the performance and availability of the communication systems that support Indian Power System Operations. The system will facilitate centralised supervision of the Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) and State Constituents Communication Network for quick fault detection and restoration. This will be achieved by seamlessly integrating all existing and upcoming communication networks of different makes and technologies. This state-of-the-art project has been implemented by POWERGRID using state-of-the-art technology with built-in Artificial Intelligence.
