Powergrid Corporation of India is a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, specialising in inter-state bulk power transmission. As a frontrunner in the power transmission sector, the company is dedicated to upholding the highest standards in asset management practices.
MANTHAN’23, the 18th Asset Management Conference of Powergrid, was held recently, in Sohna, Haryana, and organised by Northern Region-I. This conference is a pivotal platform for reviewing and formulating a strategic approach for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of Powergrid’s rapidly expanding transmission system. It also addresses the challenges in optimising the management of assets under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
The central theme of the 18th Asset Management Conference, known as Manthan, revolved around “Management of assets by leveraging new technologies and Human Assets for Net Zero.” Presided over by the Chairman and Managing Director, the conference witnessed the active participation of Functional Directors. MANTHAN’23 embraced a hybrid format, facilitating the physical presence of Department Heads at the corporate centre, Regional Heads, and Asset Management in charge. Simultaneously, other personnel from corporate departments, regional Asset Management Conference teams, and site-level offices attended the conference virtually.
Powergrid reaffirms its commitment to implementing internationally recognised asset management standards and practices, including ISO55001, to govern its transmission assets effectively. Throughout the two-day conference, MANTHAN’23, numerous decisions about O and M activities and various policies were made, offering invaluable insights into the future of Asset Management Dynamics.

Hence, the Asset Management Conference provides comprehensive insights into future operations and maintenance activities, outlining plans to adopt new technologies in alignment with the evolving business ecosystem and effectively address operational challenges.The conference facilitated discussions on various aspects, including the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies and the role of human assets in achieving net zero goals.
