SJVN secures multiple solar projects through APDCL
.

Assam Power Development Corporation Limited (APDCL) has awarded three solar projects totaling 320 MW to SJVN in separate Letters of Awards.

In three different tariff-based competitive bidding tenders of APDCL for solar projects with capacities of 50 MW, 70 MW, and 200 MW, SJVN took part. The 50 MW and 70 MW solar projects, which will be developed under the solar park category, have been allocated at a rate of ₹3.92 per unit. A third 200 MW solar project with any location in Assam will be created at a cost of ₹3.90 per unit. On a build-own-operate basis, SJVN will develop each project through its wholly-owned subsidiary SGEL.

The portfolio of SJVN’s solar and wind projects has surpassed 5 GW during the current fiscal year. The achievement of our “Mission 12000 MW by 2026” and the Shared Vision of 25000 MW by 2030 and 50000 MW by 2040 is advanced by this critical step.

The first year of these projects is anticipated to produce 628 million units of green energy, while the total amount of energy produced during a 25-year period is predicted to be roughly 14,591 million units. The projects are projected to reduce 7.14 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions when they are completed, helping the country reach its goal of “Net Zero by 2070.” The expected cost of these projects is ₹1900 crores, which would go towards the state’s overall socioeconomic growth.

These three projects, which have a combined 320 MW capacity, are planned to be completed by March 2025 and must be put into service within 18 months of the Power Purchase Agreements being signed. A 25-year PPA with APDCL must be executed.

Prior to this, SJVN and APDCL had previously agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the joint development of 1000 MW floating solar power projects in the state. SJVN is eager to play a significant role in the development of Assam’s green energy sector.
