SJVN signs 200 MW solar power agreement for Bikaner project with Uttarakhand power corporation

Strategic agreement fosters green energy progress, mitigating power deficits and advancing renewable targets efficiently.
Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, announced that SJVN, via its wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has entered into a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). The PUA, inked for a 200 MW Solar Power capacity, outlines the supply from the ongoing 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project (BSPP) in Rajasthan. This solar initiative, managed by SJVN through SGEL under the CPSU Scheme of IREDA, has a development cost of ₹ 5491 crores. Operating under the Domestic Content Requirement mode, the project is slated for commissioning by April 2024. The power generated will be utilized by governmental entities, either directly or through DISCOMS, contributing significantly to achieving solar Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets and addressing power deficits.
The Power Usage Agreement was officially signed by Ajay Kumar Singh, CEO of SGEL, and SE of UPCL in Dehradun. Earlier, a noteworthy milestone was achieved when the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, laid the foundation stone for the 1000 MW Bikaner SPP on January 3, 2023. The project anticipates generating 2455 million units in its inaugural year and approximately 56838 million units cumulatively over 25 years, while concurrently mitigating carbon emissions by 27,85,077 tonnes.SJVN, a premier Power CPSU, is resolutely dedicated to expanding its renewable energy portfolio in alignment with the Government of India’s green energy transition objectives.
