By 2030, SECI committed to reach its goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity.
Recently, the Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) status has been accorded to the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). The Government of India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued a communication to this effect.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of India established SECI in 2011 as its main implementing agency for renewable energy plans and projects in order to meet India’s responsibilities under international commitments. Up to this point, SECI has awarded over 56 GW in project capabilities for renewable energy (RE). In addition to investing its own money in projects, SECI also works as a project management consultant (PMC) for other public sector organisations. SECI has the highest credit rating possible from ICRA, AAA. According to SECI’s managing director, Suman Sharma, the rapid growth, persistent performance, and operational flexibility of SECI have enabled it to accomplish this achievement in such a short time. “SECI has played a central role in the rapid increase of RE generation capacity in the country and has contributed towards the nation’s climate commitments, carbon emission reduction strategies, and sustainable energy transition.” She has also underlined SECI’s commitment to helping the Honourable Prime Minister reach his “Panchamrita” goals and to play a key role in attaining the goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030.We use cookies to personalize your experience.
