Solar energy from Jhansi powers the CtrlS Noida Data Centre, ensuring clean, sustainable operations.
SunSource Energy, a prominent player in the distributed solar energy sector, has successfully initiated a solar power project for CtrlS, the largest rated 4 hyperscale data centre operator in Asia. This landmark partnership ensures that the Noida Data Centre of CtrlS is now powered by clean energy from SunSource Energy’s Open Access Solar power plant in Gursarai, Jhansi district, Uttar Pradesh.
With an estimated generation of approximately 100 GWh of clean energy, this solar project is set to offset over 94,640 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions during its technical lifetime. This significant reduction in emissions is equivalent to planting 1,89,281 trees, a testament to CtrlS’ commitment to sustainability and its proactive approach to reducing its carbon footprint.
Santanu Guha, the Chief Executive Officer of SunSource Energy, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “We are proud to be chosen by CtrlS, Asia’s Largest Rated 4 Hyperscale Data Centre Operator, to play a pivotal role in their energy transition journey. As a leading solar power developer in India, we have been instrumental in facilitating the energy transition of numerous C&I businesses over the past fourteen years with our innovative solar solutions.
Dillip Guru, Senior Vice President of International DC Expansion, Renewable Energy, and Edge Strategy at CtrlS, said, “At CtrlS, sustainability and responsible growth are part of our DNA. With this project, we are closer to becoming carbon neutral by 2030. We are happy to partner with SunSource Energy in this initiative.”Data centres and transmission networks account for 1 percent of global energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. The Indian Data Centre market is one of the fastest-growing in the world and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 18.79 percent over the next five years, making the greening of the sector crucial for the country to achieve its net-zero goals.
