Ten additional submersible substations will be installed by Tata Power by 2025, and a groundbreaking ceremony was performed at its Parel receiving station.
In order to improve the power infrastructure in its operational area, Tata Power, one of India’s leading integrated power companies and a pioneering electricity provider in Mumbai, announced the construction of an innovative submersible power substation in South Mumbai. This underground substation will be the nation’s first submersible substation of its kind erected by any power distribution utility, taking up zero space.
At Tata Power’s Parel receiving station, Ashok Kanse, Electrical Inspector, Mumbai Region, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the 400KVA substations. Senior company officials, including Tata Power Mumbai Distribution Chief Nilesh Kane, were also present. The sub-station will be set up in the Parel Receiving Station’s parking lot and support the power demand load of the high-rise infrastructure in the surrounding areas. It will also guarantee a continuous and dependable supply of electricity to customers during emergencies like floods and storms.
