Funded by PFC the new building will replace the ageing infrastructure paving way for the future sustainable energy research
Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, RK Singh, ceremoniously laid the foundation stone for the new Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER) building at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru today. This significant event marks a crucial stride towards shaping the future of energy research and sustainable technologies.
ICER, with its expansive research initiatives, focuses on a diverse spectrum of renewable energy domains. These include the development of Net Zero Technology for Green Hydrogen, sCo2, Power, and Turbine technologies, as well as Clean Coal technology. The center is at the forefront of pioneering research and development activities in green energy technologies. This encompasses the generation of hydrogen and other biofuels from biomass, advanced batteries, energy storage systems, and various sustainable technologies.
This new chapter at ICER, propelled by knowledge, curiosity, and collective endeavor, emerges as an epicenter for scientific breakthroughs and transformative change. It resonates with the Honorable Prime Minister’s vision of a technologically empowered and self-reliant India.The project receives support from the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The proposed new building aims to replace the ageing infrastructure currently housing ICER, providing a modern, technologically advanced facility spanning ground plus three floors. This state-of-the-art facility will incorporate laboratories, classrooms, seminar rooms, meeting spaces, a library, and computational facilities.
