Windergy India deliberates on increasing production capacity of wind turbines, indigenisation, finance mechanism and cross-industry collaborations.
Windergy India 2022, the upcoming mega wind energy trade fair and conference, is all set to enhance the wind energy eco-system by deliberating and facilitating quicker migration to clean energy in sync with national resolve.
The three-day mega wind energy event will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from April 27-29, 2022 and will focus on fulfilling national commitment of quick migration to clean energy of which wind energy is one of the pivotal pillars.
In order to reduce dependency on fossil fuel and achieve the target of net-zero emission by 2070, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at COP26 (November 2021) pledged five key targets towards fulfilment of this objective. These include Increasing country’s non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030; 50 percent of country’s energy requirements to come from renewable energy by 2030; Reduction of total projected carbon emissions by one billion tons from now till 2030; By 2030, India will reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by more than 45 percent; By the year 2070, India will achieve the target of Net-Zero.
And, wind energy will play a pivotal role in achieving the above objectives and has already made impressive progress in terms of capacity addition, manufacturing capabilities and other areas. Currently, 27 percent of the total installed power capacity in the country comes from renewable energy, of which 37.73 percent is contributed by Wind Energy (40.13 GW). India has fixed a target of 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022. This would include 100 GW from Solar, 60 GW from Wind, rest will be from Bio-power and small Hydropower.
