Today’s principle application of wind power is Wind farms to generate electricity. Wind farms have many turbines to extract energy from the wind. Usually Wind farm sites are preselected on the basis of a wind atlas. Collection of site specific data for wind speed and direction is crucial for determining the right site.
ACD Machine Control Co Pvt Ltd, a 40 year old Mumbai based manufacturing company, specialises in in digenously developing and manufacturing equipment in the field of vibration and wind monitoring systems. ACD WIND DATA LOGGER WDL 09 has been their latest addition. The wind data logger is a cup anemometer coupled with a logger which helps in storing and analysing the data. The wind velocity sensor comprises of three conical beaded edged cups 132 mm. in diameter, attached by arms to a central boss which drive a vertical spindle at a rotary speed proportional to wind velocity.
Aluminum and stainless steel are used throughout this assembly to ensure freedom from corrosion and long working life. A conical shield protects the spindle and bearing from the rain. The main features of this logger are:
