India among the top three volume markets for solar
.

Gaurav Mathur, India Director of Trina Solar, shares the company’s leading N-type technology that offers an alternative high-power solar module for the next generation of solar projects in India.
Can you talk about your business portfolio?
Trina Solar offers research and development, production and sales of PV modules, power stations and system products, PV power generation, operation and maintenance services, and commits to leading the way in smart solar energy solutions for a net-zero future. We have launched our 685-watt models, and apart from this, we have 670-watt and 550-watt models, but ‘N-type is a recent launch.
What’s new about these products?
This N-type is a negative junction and is a half-cut. Suitable for this year, it is a new technology that has come through and is 685 watts.
So what makes India an important market for Trina Solar?
We’ve been working in India for the past 11 years. It’s a long journey for us. We have shipped more than eight gigawatts of modules in the country. So we support the clean energy initiative regarding fewer carbon footprints in India. So it’s a beautiful journey for us.

India is an important market for us. The reason being it’s a volume market within the top three markets in the world. We have a full-fledged office with a technical team.
What are your key focus and present capacity of the company?
We have yet to get one; we have a branch office and are looking for expansion. By the end of 2022, we will have around 60 gigawatts of volume and factories in Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Currently, we are investigating a factory in India. Once we find it commercially viable, we will have it.
We have a laboratory in China which is certified by the Ministry of Science and Technology. When a new product comes, we minimise the frame and glass sizes so that one knows that the entire ecosystem and the model’s pricing come down.
How do you look at this green energy transition?
Our company always looks for the benefit of humanity. We are working towards a lower carbon footprint, and we understand that solar is the main product, which is less time-consuming and safe. So, technically solar is helping the industry.
