Amit Barve, Business Head of Solar, PEWIN, Panasonic Life Solutions India
The solar market in India is booming, with installations hitting nearly 15GW in just the first half of the year. This growth marks a strong rebound from last year and is set to continue, aligning to reach 280GW by 2030. Panasonic is gearing up for the 17th REI Expo as the sector expands, showcasing its latest solar and EV charging technologies innovations. Amit Barve shares insights into the sector, focussing on Panasonic’s prospects.
How is the solar manufacturing sector adapting to meet the Indian renewable energy goals?
The solar market in India is on a roll, with installations reaching close to 15GW in the first six months of this year. After a bit of slow last year, momentum is back in the sector, and this momentum is expected to continue for the next 5-10 years to achieve the government’s goal of 280GW by the end of 2030. Over and above market demand, the manufacturing sector is growing to take up this challenge, and we see more backward integration and capacities being added beyond solar modules like solar cells. Overall, it is an exciting time to see developments in the sector.
How do your EV chargers complement the solar products in sustainability efforts?
As part of Panasonic’s Green Impact initiative, we focus on achieving carbon-neutral goals for our operating units worldwide and actively helping our customers achieve their net-neutral goals. This year, we are showcasing our EV Charger range of products, which extends our green offering beyond our solar products, which we have been actively evolving in the Indian market. How do TOPCon bi-facial GG Solar modules enhance stability and quality?
Our product range keeps upgrading every year, and we will showcase our high-quality and reliable TOPCon bi-facial GG Solar modules as well as a 60 KW fast DC charger. These products are stable, high-quality, and reliable, which is the hallmark of Panasonic products that have complied with Panasonic Corporate Safety Standards (PCSS).
How do you plan to attract new distribution partners for your solar products in this edition of the REI Expo?
As the solar market opens up and grows exponentially, we expect to showcase our wide variety of solar offerings over and above the EV range of Products (AC and DC fast charges) that complement and complete our offer. We expect to meet more distribution partners to expand our retail reach and educate them on the quality and safety standards that we follow.
