In addition, it has data logging and accurate trend analysis backed by an internal SD card that can store up to 7.5 million data in text or graphic mode.
The test and measuring (T&M) industry plays a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of decentralised power grid systems. With the rise of renewable energy sources and battery storage technologies, specialised T&M instruments ensure optimal performance, providing critical insights into power quality, energy storage and grid optimisation. How do high-quality test instruments and battery analysers improve reliability in power systems and batteries?
The backbone of any good power grid system is the quality of test and measuring instruments employed. If good-quality instruments are used in power quality systems for transmission and distribution of electricity, failure rates will be lower, making the system more reliable. Using high-safety tests and measuring instruments such as UL, the listed Instruments, which have high transient protection, have almost negligible failure rates, leading to nearly 100 per cent reliability.
With the increase in demand for solar installations and electric vehicles, the demand for batteries has increased tremendously. These batteries use the latest technology to give optimum output. To maintain the proper health of the batteries and to monitor them, KUSAM-MECO has a battery quality analyser with the functions of monitoring the impedance of the batteries, voltage measurements, DC float current measurements, AC ripple current measurements, temperature, capacity measurement analyser, USB 2.0 interface, Bluetooth / Wi-Fi. In addition, it has data logging and accurate trend analysis backed by an internal SD card to store up to 7.5 million data in text or graphic mode.
We also have a separate battery internal resistance tester model, KM 930, which can measure internal resistance, voltage, and temperature. In addition to the above, we provide another battery monitor with an in-built printer that can analyse the batteries’ data, such as battery resistance, voltage, cranking and charging system, health, and charge. A microprocessor analyses the results such as ‘Good Battery’, ‘Good Recharge’, ‘Charge Retest’, ‘Replace Bad Cell’, and ‘Replace Battery’. All information is available in print form in the instrument itself. How can integrating older analogue test instruments with modern microprocessor-controlled systems be improved?
The test and measuring instruments used were analogue types that worked on mechanical systems. Each instrument was dedicated to a special function. Nowadays, advanced test and measuring instruments have microprocessor controls and are equipped with PC connectivity, which allows data to be transmitted to central monitoring systems for parameter control. Wherever the older Instruments are installed with new Instruments, integrating them with the new system is not easy. However, wherever the old instruments are still in use, monitoring is slow and has to be localised.
How can simplified laws and a more liberal budget boost India’s manufacturing sector growth?
With emphasis on ‘Make In India’, we expect that the Budget will be more liberal for manufacturing industries in India so that they get more encouragement to manufacture more and more items in India. At the same time, the industry will be happy if the complicated laws are reduced so that the manufacturers can put their energies into productive work instead of wasting time complying with the laws, some of which are outdated and of British times. Speaking of Elecrama, we have a bigger stall this year than in previous years. We will be displaying many new products for the test and measuring industry. Some of them were in India for the first time.
