Performance of power sector in India
Power sector in India is in exponential growth mode. India will see more than US$ 100 billion investment in energy sector. The government is focussing more on renewable energy. The government policies are aimed towards making India self sufficient in power generation. New technological advancement in solar cells is making it more affordable and attractive. However, recent default on payment by discoms to power generating companies is an area of concern for the industry. Government should take immediate measures to maintain investors’ confidence in the sector.

Future of Indian power sector in 2021
The future of Indian power sector is very bright. India is ranked 6th amongst the countries making significant investment in renewable energy close to US$ 90 billion. With “Make in India” initiative by Indian government, new industry will flourish which will further fuel the growth of power sector. Power consumption is set to increase to 1,900 TWh by 2022. All state governments are taking effort to attract foreign investment in terms of setting up their plant to generate employment and economical growth. India is overcoming the pandemic and industry is coming back to its normal state. The power demand is increasing. The government is injecting more capital and moratorium incentive in the MSME sector.
