Power substations have undergone significant advancements in technology, revolutionising the way electricity is managed and distributed. Modern substations are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as smart sensors, automation, and advanced communication systems. These innovations enable real-time monitoring and control of the electrical grid, improving efficiency and reliability. Additionally, advancements in renewable energy integration have led to the development of substations capable of handling variable power inputs from sources like solar and wind.
Furthermore, digitalisation and data analytics play a crucial role in optimising substations performance, enhancing predictive maintenance, and minimising downtime. With the integration of advanced hardware and software solutions, power substations are evolving into smarter, more resilient components of the electrical infrastructure.
Despite these advancements, challenges like ageing infrastructure, cybersecurity risks, equipment failure, power outages, and shortage of skilled work force persist, indicating that there are still hurdles to overcome.
On this note, EPR is hosting a Live Power Talk on ‘Technology Advancements for Indian Substations’ on April 23, 04:00 PM onwards. Industry experts will delve into the current landscape, exploring innovation opportunities and addressing the challenges, showing the way towards robust power substation.
The session was scheduled for 23rd April 2024, 04:00 PM – 05:30 PM.
